Driver of Black Ford Focus violated almost all possible rules when doing a right turn and almost caused an accident with a car behind. Only good reaction of another driver helped to avoid collision. License plate number is well visible – BPSN 432.

Careless driving almost causing collision – 6 demerit points
Not signalling when changing lane to the left – 2 points
Violating road marking crossing solid white line – 2 points
Not signalling when turning right – 2 points
Improper right turn – 2 points
Driver would earn at least 14 demerit points. If driver doesn’t have a very good explanation of why it happened, most likely none of the insurance companies will want to deal with them.
Driver of black Mazda CX 5 (or maybe 7) was in such a hurry that almost made a collision with oncoming mini van finishing its left turn. License plate number was hard to read, but it looks like BXAF 361.
There are 3 demerit points for violating traffic light. Mazda crossed stop line when traffic light was still yellow. But it was done really in a careless manner since oncoming car already started to turn and Mazda didn’t even try to brake. There was plenty of space to safely stop. For careless driving there are 6 demerit points which better fits this case.
CDSA for this potential accident will be $1000 CAD.

Driver of black GMC Sierra truck with license plate AK 34148 changed lanes on highway 404 without signalling and did it very aggressively over 3 lanes.
Video from dash camera captured 3 lane changes without proper signalling which totals to 6 demerit points.
Grey Nissan Pathfinder with license plate number BTFB 934 ignored stop sign in residential area. It could easily cause hitting of pedestrian or cyclist.
Failing to obey a stop sign gives 3 demerit points.
White Mazda 5’s driver showed extremely inappropriate behavior on Oct 12, 2018 moving up highway 404. License plate number if the vehicle is BMJL 435. Several rules have been violated almost causing crash and surrounding drivers were distracted by this.

Changing lane to the right without signalling (sec 8) – 2 points
Changing lane to the left without signalling (sec 13) – 2 points
Almost hitting car in adjacent lane when changing lanes – careless driving (sec 13) – 6 demerit points
Inappropriate gestures (sec 17)
Changing lane to the left with right turn signal (sec 21) – 2 points
All of them total to at least 14 demerit points.

Given severity of all violations and overall behavior of this driver, CDSA for this case will be $3000 CAD.
If it was caught by police, driver could be even imprisoned. If insurance companies would know about it, most likely nobody will even insure such driver. In these cases driver would have to pay much more. Not taking about possible collision which could cause really severe damage to people.
This happened in a fall of 2017 during rain which was heavy periodically. Everybody was moving through the slow traffic, but one car somehow missed it and rear-ended into another vehicle without even trying to brake deteriorating already bad traffic on highway.

I’ve seen many traffic accidents and serious consequences of collisions due to reckless drivers running their cars on a red light. Instead of waiting another minute and safely stop, some drivers just press pedal to the metal trying to fly through the most dangerous part of the road – intersection. Most of the time it’s successful for them: nobody is hurt, nobody catches them. I don’t know if they feel guilty for that or just enjoy every time… running on “bloody orange”.
What should drivers turning left and standing on the intersection do when traffic light turns red? Complete the turn? I would advise to always wait for the oncoming traffic to stop or make sure 100% they are going to stop.
I’ve captured on dash camera Nissan Maxima running through the Prospect & Water St. intersection in Newmarket !!two!! seconds after traffic light turned red. It would earn 3 demerit points if caught by police officer. Unfortunately the license plate number is not clear on this video and I haven’t remembered it. Here is a video:

Driver of this white truck really scared me, in spite of the fact that there is more than a month left until Halloween. I had to do emergency braking and you may hear some stuff falling inside. Also white truck turned right from the second lane which is prohibited by respective pavement marking and traffic sign.

Always remember to periodically monitor traffic from the opposite direction even if there is a very wide median like on most parts of Highway 404.
Unfortunately it’s not enough and people continue to die on Highway 404 when oncoming vehicles fly over the median due to some circumstances and crash into traffic moving up to 140 km/h.
About a year ago southbound car crossed highway ditch and slammed into northbound car killing 3 people. There were other fatalities happened on 404 earlier.
I was traveling southbound 404 during wintry morning last spring after ice pellets and freezing rain. Was driving pretty cautious in the second lane which probably saved me life. Suddenly white van moving northbound slipped into median ditch for the reason I don’t know. Maybe someone else caused such maneuver of white van.
